Our loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend, Zoland William Tanner, age 63, returned home July 27, 2001 in Murray, Utah. His strong spirit could no longer conquer his heart disease.

Born Jan 16, 1938 in Jerome, ID, the son of Afton LaVon and Iola Annabelle Mecham Tanner. He married Vergene Price Feb 12, 1959 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.

Zoland was an active member of the LDS Church where he served faithfully in many positions. His strength was evidenced by his teaching abilities. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and was a nature lover who could always be found bird watching. His greatest pleasure, however, came from spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Vergene; children, Zolene (Barry) White, Kearns, Rhonda (Bill) Cromarty, Holladay, Melody-Ann (Steven) Luke, Yakima, WA, Galen (Rajene) Tanner, Aurora, IL, Glade (Laura) Tanner, West Valley City, Narda (Steven) Emett, Tooele, LaNell (Jerry) McKean, Kearns; 21 grandchildren; mother Iola, West Valley City; brothers, Elden (Anita) Tanner, West Valley City, Merlyn (Adele) Tanner, Australia; and sisters, Aloha (Jim) Humphries, Idaho Falls, Idella (Maurice) Murri, West Jordan, Renee Romans, West Valley City. He was preceded in death by his father; and grandson, Dakota Steven Emett.

Services will be Wed. August 1, 1 p.m., Taylorsville 13th LDS Ward chapel, 1495 W. Tamarack Rd (4565 S). Friends may call Tues. 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S. Redwood Rd, and Wed. at the church, 12-12:45 p.m. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park.
