The son of a sea captain, William entered the ministry in 1855, and that November married Harriet Angeline "Angie" Chase, the daughter of Ira and Hannah (Cate) Chase.
The couple made their home in New Market, and later Grafton, Manchester and Kingston before permanently settling in Epping where he had resided for 17 years prior to his death.
They were the parents of Emma F., wife of Benjamin Swain; and sons Olin Victor and Elgin W. Jones.
