Robert M. O'Connell, age 35, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 6, 2003, at home with family by his side. Bob bravely fought his battle with brain cancer.

Bob was born on Oct. 30, 1967, in Blue Mounds, the son of Janice Rice and William O'Connell.

Bob overcame the adversity of being shot in the arm in a hunting accident at age 20, that left him with little use of his left arm.

Bob most enjoyed his years as owner of O'Connell's Bar in Blue Mounds, and then working for Electronic Theatre Controls in Middleton. ETC's generosity and kindness since Bob's diagnosis of cancer cannot be repaid. Bob also enjoyed working with his good friend, Gary Luhman, at Ridgeway Auto, fulfilling a lifelong love of cars.

He is survived by his mother, Janice (Wayne) Smith, Portage; father, William (Karen) O'Connell, Mount Horeb; sisters, Deb Darrow and Julie O'Connell, Mount Horeb; brother, Bill (Mary) O'Connell, Waunakee; fiance and special friend, Lori Hendrickson, Ridgeway; special nieces and nephews, Dalton O'Connell, his godson, Tonya Handel, Kelsey Darrow, Morgan Darrow, his goddaughter, Danny, Shaun, Patrick and Caitlin O'Connell; a great-niece, Mackenzie O'Connell, his goddaughter; his aunts, Margaret O'Connell, Lorraine (Henry) Sedene, Mary Diederich and Beverly (Lee) Jewett; and his uncles, Everett (Terry) Rice and Bobby (Alice) Rice.

Bob was preceded in death by his grandparents; and a brother, Danny.

Funeral services were held February 10, 2003, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Mount Horeb. Burial at the Calvary Cemetery.
