WILLIAM V. ARGO
William "Bill" V. Argo, 69, owner of Argo Lock and Key Co., and resident of Victoria since the late 1950s, died at 10:10 a.m. Sunday in a local hospital following a long illness.
Mr. Argo was born May 25, 1912 in Hamilton County, Tenn., and formerly resided in Tennessee and northern Georgia. He was the son of the late Dan and Annice Rollins Argo.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at McCabe-Carruth Funeral Home Chapel with private burial. Mr. Buddy Means will officiate.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Grace Evelyn Argo of Victoria; a daughter, Dorothy Argo of Los Angeles; 2 step-daughters, Edith Loeb of Houston and Nancy Serrill of Alvin; two sons, Bill Argo Jr. of Houston and James Argo of Los Angeles; a step-son, Austin Greer of Houston; a sister, Lee Wood of Conroe; a brother, Harlan Argo of Conroe; and four grandchildren.
Mr. Argo was a member of the American Locksmith Association and the Texas Locksmith Association. A Marine Corps veteran of World War II, he was a member of the American Legion.
In 1962 he published a book, "No Place for Revenuers," written about his experiences as a revenue officer in Tennessee.

Funeral services for William V. Argo, 69, of 1107 E. Sabine, who died Sunday in a local hospital will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at McCabe-Carruth Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Buddy Means officiating.
Burial will be private.
Pallbearers will be Donald Stewart, John Vasquez, Stephen Serrill, Robert Pilzner, Jack Shelton, Tommy Rakowitz and Lester Tait Jr.
In lieu of the usual remembrances, contributions may be made to the Southwest Research Foundation, the American Heart Association, or to the charity of the donor's choice.
