GROCE
Millie (Mildred Christmus-Gunter) Groce passed away in San Antonio, Texas on Saturday, August 11, 2012. Millie was born into a proud southern family with deep Baptist roots on May 16, 1924 in Columbia, Richland County, South Carolina. She attended school in Greenwood, S.C., the University of South Carolina and Columbia School of Nursing where she specialized in the operating room. She was married to Col. Thomas O. Groce for 56 years. He preceded her in death in 2004. Now they are together again, praise the Lord. They traveled extensively as an Air Force family making a home in many interesting places around the world. Tom and Millie retired in San Antonio, a place they loved, where they became avid golfers. The most valuable gifts of her life were her two beautiful daughters (Suzette and Pam), her five precious grandchildren (Shannan, Renee, Jeffery, Jason and Nathan) and two adorable great grandchildren (Samantha and John). She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, whom she considered as close as sisters. She was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters. Visitation will begin 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 14th at Porter Loring on McCullough.
