I should like to employ an industrious, faithful CARPENTER to do a small job of work on my Farm near Jenning'a Gap, the work to commence about the 20th of this month, (July ) I can be seen at my Office, in Staunton, or on the Farm.

BELIEVE ME—Because of sore family affliction, I am compelled to quit all attempt at Housekeeping. I shall, therefore, on Friday., September 7th, 1866, at my residence, near Jenning's Gap, Augusta county, offer my land, consisting of several little tracts, amounting in all to about Four Hundred and Fifty Acres, for sale by way of public auction, to the highest bidder .... P. S. —The lands referred to above, if not sold, will, on proper application, be exchanged for land suitably located in either one of the counties, namely Highland, Va., Pendleton or Grant, W.Va., Reuben D. Hill

Captain Reuben D. Hill, for many years a practitioner at the Staunton Bar, died suddenly, on Sunday week, at Headwaters, in Highland county, aged about seventy years. He was born in Amherst county. Within the past two years the Bar of Staunton has lost live of its members by death, viz : Thomas J. Michie, John B. Baldwin, Orlando Smith, John B. Watts and Reuben D. Hill.
