RAILROAD MAN DIES
William H. Vandegrift, former division superintendent of the Milwaukee division
of the Lake Shore railway and later general agent for the Wisconsin Central
lines here, died from an attack of heart failure while seated at home smoking
and conversing with his family.
Mr. Vandegrift was 73 years old. He came to Wisconsin from Ohio in 1885,
establishing a residence at Appleton where he became division superintendent
of the old Lake Shore and Western railroad.
At the time of his death he was in the government employ at the Shipyards. His
wife and three children survive.
