MRS. STEWART DIES; BODY TO BE SENT HERE
Youngest Daughter of Osuld Torrison, Pioneer Merchant, Was 58
Mrs. Agnes Torrison Stewart, until 1908 a resident of Manitowoc but who since
her marriage to Charles Crawford Stewart lived in Chicago, died Monday afternoon
in that city. She had been ill for several months.
The body of Mrs. Stewart, long prominent in club work and social circles in
Chicago, will be brought to Manitowoc for burial.
There will be services Wednesday afternoon at the Stewart home in Chicago, 5824
Dorchester avenue, in charge of the Rev. D.G. Ristad of this city. The body will
be brought to this city on the Limited train Wednesday evening and may be viewed
at the First Lutheran church from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. Thursday. Services will be
at 2 p.m. with interment in Evergreen cemetery here.
The deceased, youngest daughter of the late Osuld Torrison, pioneer Manitowoc
department store head, was born in this city 58 years ago.
Educated Here
She was educated in the north side schools and after graduation from high school
was given private tutoring and enrolled in Wellesley college in Massachusetts.
Graduating from Wellesley she (can't read) in Germany (can't read) and spent
some time in travel in northern European countries. Returning to Manitowoc she
was married here in 1908 to Mr. Stewart, a Chicago manufacturer. They made their
home at Chicago since.
Mrs. Stewart took a prominent part in social and club work in Chicago.
Survivors are the widower Charles C. Stewart, four brothers, William Torrison
of this city, Norman, Aaron and Dr. George Torrison of Chicago, and a sister-
in-law, Mrs. Thomas Torrison of this city.
