Mr. John M. Schroeder, age 79, of 1618 S. Ninth St., Manitowoc, died Tuesday,
September 13, 1994, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 15, 1994, at the
First Presbyterian Church. Rev. William B. Plank will officiate with interment
at Evergreen Cemetery.
He was born July 26, 1915, at Manitowoc, son of the late John and Elizabeth Handl
Schroeder. He grew up and was educated in Manitowoc and was a 1932 graduate of
Lincoln High School. He was employed at Rahr Malting Company and then at Anheuser
Busch for 39 years, retiring in 1980. He was married to Helen M. Michel,
January 21, 1939, at the First Presbyterian Church, Manitowoc. They celebrated
55 plus years of happy marriage together. He was a member of the First Presbyterian
Church and an Elder of the Congregation. He was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels
and Peter's Pantry. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the United States
Army in the Panama Canal Zone. John enjoyed their cottage and helping people.
Survivors include his wife, Helen, Manitowoc; one son, Richard J. Schroeder, Perth
Australia; one granddaughter, Erika L. Schroeder, Colorado Springs, Colo.; one
sister and brother-in-law, Marcella and Paul Sammon, Manitowoc; two sisters-in-law,
Elaine Schroeder, Ocala, Fla., Luella Schroeder, Kiel; dear nieces, nephews, other
relatives and many friends also survive. He was preceded in death by three brothers,
Paul and Robert Schroeder and an infant brother, one sister, Mrs. Dorothy Smith.
In lieu of flowers memorials to the First Presbyterian Church, The Manitowoc County
Unit of the American Cancer Society, or the donor's choice would be appreciated.
Friends may call at the First Presbyterian Church Thursday from 10 a.m. until the
time of service.
