Herman Schneider Sheboygan Press April 30, 1945

Herman Schneider, aged 78 of 2628 Calumet drive passed away at St. Nicholas
hospital after a lingering illness. He was born in Manitowoc County on
September 16, 1866 and was one of the oldest harness makers in Wisconsin. His
marriage to Katie Simon took place in Manitowoc County in 1893 and she preceded
him in death 31 years ago. On October 12, 1922 he was married to Mrs. Laura
Orth Husting in Milwaukee.
Mr. Schneider conducted his first business, operating a harness shop and shoe
store in School Hill, later moving to Cleveland, Wis., where he had a harness
business. He then changed his place of business to Erdman, then moving to his
present address at 2628 Calumet Drive where he operated a joint harness business
and grocery store for the past 20 years.
Survivors are his wife, one son, Hubert Schneider of Milwaukee; two daughters,
Mrs. Marle Skarda and Mrs. Viola Reisner of Sheboygan; four foster daughters,
Edith Husting and Mrs. Lorraine Morden of Milwaukee, Mrs. Dorothy Temme,
Manitowoc and Mrs. Mary Schug of Sheboygan. Twenty-three grandchildren, three
great grandchildren and one brother, Ferdinand Schneider of Town Meeme also
survive. One daughter Cecelia Schneider and a foster son, Theodore Husting
preceded him in death, a grandson, Corp. Alwyn Skarda was killed in action in
France seven months ago.
