Alvin Schneider, 79, of Garfield Garden
Apts, 2000 Clark St., Manitowoc, died Saturday noon Feb. 23 at Holy Family
Hospital. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Redeemer Lutheran Church
Manitowoc. The Rev. Arthur C. Senn will officiate and burial will be in
Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Mr. Schneider was born Feb. 24 (sic), 1901 at
Unity, Wis., son of the late Henry and Emma Ewald Schneider. He grew up and
attended schools in the Marshfield area. Mr. Schneider moved to Sheboygan in the
early 1930s and then moved to the Manitowoc area in 1945. He worked at Shady
Lane Home Manitowoc retiring in 1971. He married Carolyne Reinert Sept 18, 1923,
at St. Andrews Lutheran Church at Sheboygan, Wis. Mr. Schneider was a member of
Redeemer Lutheran Church, a member of the Men's Club and L.L.L. of Redeemer
Church. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn; two sons and daughters-in-law,
Lester and Barbara Schneider of Sheboygan, Reuben R. and Mary Schneider of
Manitowoc; two daughters and sons-in-law, LaVerne and Kenneth Hartheld of
Manitowoc, Shirley and Joseph Nadeau of Elkhart Lake, Wis.; three sisters, Mrs.
Adelia Mellenthin of Spencer, Wis, Mrs. Leona Barnowski of Wausau, Wis., Mrs.
Ross (Vera) Sloniker of Greenwood, Wis.; 24 grandchildren and nine great
grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister. Friends
may call at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Monday and Tuesday at the church from noon till the time of services.
