WILLIAM P. KIRBY (d. 1973)

William P. Kirby, 73, of 2204 LaFollette Ave., Manitowoc, died Monday afternoon.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 am Thursday at Pfeffer Funeral Home and at
11 am at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Leo J. Schmitt will
officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Kirby was born Mar. 14, 1900 in the Town of Franklin, Manitowoc County, son
of the late William and Elizabeth O’Connor Kirby. He was a veteran of World War
II, serving in the U.S. Army Medical Corps. He married Loretta A. Zipperer
May 16, 1942 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Whitelaw. They lived at Whitelaw
until 1952, when they moved to Manitowoc. He had been employed at Rahr Malting
Co. and Anheuser-Bush Inc., of Manitowoc, retiring in 1965. He was a member of
the Maltster Union, No. 297.
Survivors include his wife; two brothers, John of Brillion and Norbert of Waukesha;
four sisters, Mrs. Thomas (Bessie) Hayden, Mrs. Mary Cavanaugh and Mrs. Herbert
(Kathryn) Remiker of Manitowoc and Mrs. Gordon (Veronica) Rapp of Mill Valley,
Calif. Two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
Friends may call at Pfeffer Funeral Home from 4 to 9 pm Wednesday, where a wake
service will be held at 7 pm.
