Death Thurs. morning last week of Mrs. L.A. Guyles, an old resident of our city,
after an illness of many days. The deceased who was 75 leaves 3 children and was
buried Sat.

From the Files of the Pilot - Twenty-Five Years Ago - (1899)
Mrs. L.A. Guyles died on Thursday last at the home of her daughter, Mrs. L. J.
Nash. She was born in Unadilla, New York and was 75 years old at the time of
her death. She was married in Waukegan and with her family settled in Manitowoc
43 years ago. Her husband, who was a prominent man in business affairs, died
several years ago. Her funeral took place on Saturday. She leaves three children,
Mrs. L.J. Nash and Frank Guyles of this city and Gay Guyles of Tacoma.
Mrs. Guyles was a woman who performed all the duties of life as her conscience
directed. She was an exemplary woman in every respect and filled her station in
life well.

Mrs. L.A. Guyles of Manitowoc, one of the early settlers of that city was buried last
Saturday. Her husband, who died many years ago was one of the early lumbermen
of the county and for m any years operated a saw mill at Manitowoc. During the
later years of his life, he was associated in the lumber business with the late Geo.
Pankratz under the firm name of Guyles & Pankratz. Mrs. Guyles was a most
estimable woman and was beloved by a large circle of friends. The funeral took
place from the residence of her son-in-law, L.J. Nash, with whom she has resided
since the death of her husband.

In probate court Monday the will of John Wallschlaeger was filed for probate
and an inventory of the estate of Mrs. Lydia A. Guyles, deceased, was returned.
The estate is valued at $9,444.14 and is mostly personal property. L.J. Nash
is executor.
