MRS. F. B. GROLL STROKE VICTIM SUNDAY NIGHT
Funeral Services Will Be Held Wednesday At Wesley M.E. Church
A sudden stroke, which she suffered at the home, 1329 South 15th street, on
Sunday, proved fatal to Mrs. Frederick B. Groll, 45, well known south side
resident and prominent worker in the circles of the Wesley M.E. church.
Mrs. Groll who had been ill for a week seemed to be improving but yesterday
she suffered a series of strokes that sapped her strength and caused her death
shortly after the supper hour. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m.
from the Wesley M.E. church in charge of the Rev. H. Feldt with interment at
Evergreen cemetery. The remains will be removed to the church tomorrow, where
they will lie in state until the funeral services the next day.
The maiden name of the deceased was Octavia Buerstatte. She was a daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. F. C. Buerstatte, now deceased, and was born in this city October 3,
1887. She was brought up here and educated in the public schools of the city.
Married in 1909
On June 9, 1909 she was married to Frederick B. Groll, and they continued to
make their home here.
Mrs. Groll was a tireless and enthusiastic worker in the Wesley M. E. church.
She was a member of the Ladies Aid society of the church, a member of the choir,
pianist and teacher for the Sunday school and president of the Womens Foreign
Missionary society of the congregation.
Besides her husband Mrs. Groll is survived by a daughter, Mildred, and a son
Frederick Jr., both at home. One daughter died in infancy. There are three
sisters, Mrs. A. T. Baker, St. Paul, In., Mrs. J. V. Romoser, Fort Atkinson,
Wis., and Mrs. L. E. Huppert, city, and four brothers, Julius, Charles and
Richard of this city, and Fred of Seattle, Wash.
Friends may view the remains from Tuesday noon until the hour of the funeral
at the Wesley M.E. church.
