George S. Goldie, 73, died at 2:15 p.m. Monday at his home in the town of
Newton following a heart attack.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. from the Pfeffer funeral
home with the Rev. C.H. Phipps of the Presbyterian church officiating.
Interment will be made in Evergreen cemetery.
Mr. Goldie was born in the town of Newton on March 19, 1869 and after completing
his schooling he taught school in the town of Newton for a few years. He then
went west for some years and one year he spent exploring in south Africa, after
which he returned to the town of Newton and engaged in farming.
On October 6, 1908 he married Miss Iona Stewart who survives with three daughters,
Mrs. Dorothy Tomacheck of Green Bay, Mrs. Edith Kreuger of Cato Falls and Miss
Jean at home; three brothers, John Goldie of Phoenix, Arizona, Samuel of Orville,
California, and Robert of this city; four sisters, Elizabeth and Jessie Goldie
of this city, Mrs. Margaret O'Neil of Newton and Grace Goldie of Milwuakee; and
one grandchild, (Survivor omitted for privacy.).
The body may be viewed at the funeral home from 7 o'clock this evening to the
time of the services.
