Alvin R. Chermak, 62, of 732 N. Ninth St., Manitowoc, died Thursday at Memorial
Hospital, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Phipps Memorial Chapel, Manitowoc.
The Rev. Gervase Zanotti will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery,
Manitowoc.
Mr. Chermak was born June 16, 1906, at Manitowoc, son of the late Anton J. and
Emma Krainik Chermak. He attended local schools and was graduated from Lincoln High
School in 1924 where he competed in track. He attended the University of Wisconsin,
Madison, and was a partner with his brother, Harry in the Chermak Meat Market, 210
N. Eighth St., Manitowoc, from 1931 until 1966 when he retired. He married Katherine
MacKenzie Oct. 7, 1935, at Melnik. Mr. Chermak was a member of the First Presbyterian
Church, Masonic Lodge No. 65, Free and Accepted Masons and the Manitowoc Chapter
No. 16, Royal and Select Masons.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, three brothers, and three grandchildren. A
sister preceded him in death.
Masonic memorial services will be conducted at 8:30 o'clock this Friday evening at
the Jens Funeral Home, Manitowoc.
Memorials may be made to the church.
