Charlotte M. Heers, daughter of John D. and Marie Hamann Menke, was born in Crete on December 26, 1894. She was one of nine children.


She attended Crete Public Schools and graduated in 1913. On November 16, 1921 she married Henry Heers. They made their home on a farm one mile east of Dorchester and later moved into town. Soon after Henry's death on March 23, 1965 Charlotte moved to the Crete Manor, where she died on February 6 at the age of 89.


At the time of her death she was a member of the Dorchester Methodist Church. She was also a charter member of the Dorchester Garden Club.


She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one brother, and six sisters.


She is survived by a sister, Clara Menke of Long Beach, California; nieces, Jeanette Grandage of Vero Beach, Florida; Mildred and Irma Brinkmeyer of Seward; and a nephew, Francis R. Menke of Crete.


Funeral services were February 9 at Kuncl Funeral Home with the Rev. John Ewton officiating. Burial was at Crete Riverside Cemetery.
