Dr. Coons was born in Caro, Mich., Feb. 5, 1886. When he was only 2 years old his parents moved to Iroquis, Canada, where he lived on a farm until he was 18, when his family returned to Caro and he entered Ohio Wesleyan University. Later he attended the College of Dental Surgery at Cincinnati and then transferred to the College of Dental Surgery at Loyola University in Chicago where he completed his dental course in 1913.
Dr. Coons was married to the former Bertha Lofberg of Ironwood on August 15, 1916. She survives together with three children.
