Obit fron the Rock Island Argus, April 14, 1958:
Edward John Johnson, 66, of Rural Route 1, East Moline, former Moline resident, died at 1:20 this morning in Moline Lutheran Hospital after a nine-day illness.
Arrangements are pending at Wendt Brothers Funeral Home, where friends may call after 7 tonight.
Mr. Johnson, the son of August and Louise Johnson, was born August 24, 1891, in Iowa. He attended schools in Moline and resided in Moline for 60 years before moving to East Moline two years ago.
He was employed as a sheet metal worker for 25 years by Wilson Bros., Moline, and later by Taylor Heating and Sheet Metal Works, Moline, retiring two years ago. He married Elizabeth Rentner. He was Lutheran by faith and a member of the Sheet Metal Union Local 91.
Surviving are a son, Donald E., Rural Route 1, East Moline; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Robert Wooley, Gillingham, Wis.; four sisters, Mrs. Ella Stoaks, Colton, Calif.; Mrs. Eva Haines, Homeland, Calif.; Mrs. Tillie Phelps, Denver, Colo.; and Mrs. Sylvia Jacquin, Milwaukee, Wis., and five grandchildren.
A son and two sisters preceded him in death.
