Trummell V. Gill at 98 quietly passed away at home in the loving arms of family on Friday, October 30,2009. Trummell was a proud native of South Philadelphia and graduate of the Normal School now known as the Philadelphia High School for Girls. She also attended Temple Univ., Webster College in St Louis, MO and Syracuse Univ., NY. As we all knew her she was the teacher of teachers. As an educator she passionately embraced her educational profession even in her personal relationships with family & friends and throughout all of her endeavors in life. Trummell was appointed as a teacher of the Arnold School in North Philadelphia and then transferred to the George Washington Carver School and served for a three year period as a teacher of teachers, training newly appointed teachers to become successful in teaching; she conducted seminars, summer workshops, and in-Service courses for experienced teachers. She also served as a Demonstration Teacher, and later as a Mathematics Resource Teacher at the Masterman Demonstration School, where she retired in 1972. Trummell also pursued several occupations and hobbies throughout her life including being a columnist with the Philadelphia Tribune, having her own radio show on WTEL called Ladies First, authored or co-authored books including books for children, romance and in math thru her early retirement years. She was most proud to have received royalties from a few of these published works. Trummell was also an avid painter and artist and passionately continued this hobby after her stroke in 2002 until her demise.

Trummell and her husband, Dudley W. Gill had retired and had become residents of Florida wherein they maintained a home and residence in Satellite Beach for the past two decades, prior to Dudley's death in 1990. In Trummell's own words she considered her life a joyous adventure. One could truly state she lived daily the saying "Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away". Trummell often expressed her eternal gratitude for the many blessings God had bestowed upon her. She greeted each day with a smile, a prayer of thanksgiving for the gift of life, and the beginning of another beautiful day.

Trummell was predeceased by her father, Feliciano F Valdera, Sr her mother Harriet Keene Valdera, and her younger brother Feliciano (Felix) Valdera Jr. Trummell is survived by her niece & namesake, Trummell Valdera and her husband Leon C. Jones; her niece Sharon Nelson; her nephew, Feliciano Valdera III; her daughter, Patricia Hampton; two sons - Dudley Gill, Jr and Gregory Gill; three grandchildren; and several grand and great nieces and nephews
