Mrs. McClellan, who was born in Colorado, died Sunday. She grew up and attended school in Colorado and then married George Shaffer. The couple traveled throughout the country as he worked as a square dance caller and had traveled by covered wagon to call a dance in Missouri.
After the death of her husband, George, she married Albert McClellan. They lived in the Denver area and built and sold homes until saving enough to purchase a 160-acre farm in Alamosa,Colo. They moved to Lafayette,Colo., in 1947 and continued farming until Mr. McClellan died in 1951. Mrs. McClellan then continued to run the ranch with the help of her three children and later leased the farm until selling it in 1986.
Mrs. McClellan then moved to Sagle and lived on the Timoskevich Ranch until moving to Evergreen Assisted Living in 2000. She moved to Valley Vista Care Center in 2002.
Mrs. McClellan enjoyed spending time with family, gardening, embroidery, fishing, camping and playing cards.
Survivors include a son, George Shaffer of Sagle, Idaho; two daughters, Lorraine Timoskevich of Sagle and Corlane Ault of Richfield,Idaho; two sisters, Bonnie Hudson of Oak Creek, Colo.,and Jackie Taylor, Edgewater, Colo.; five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one stepgreat-grandson.
Visitation for Dorothy Emma (Wood) McClellan, 87, will be today from 3 to 5 p.m. at Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint. Service will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with burial at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Sandpoint.
