Paulino Aldape, 60, Topeka, died Tuesday, June 24, 2003, at his home. He was born June 22, 1943, at Reynosa, Mexico, the son of Ruben and Juana Garza Aldape. He was raised in Texas. He graduated from trade school in St. Paul, Minn. He came to Topeka in 1979. He became a citizen in 1981. Mr. Aldape was a laborer in Topeka. Mr. Aldape was a member of Assumption Catholic Church. He also attended Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. He married Eppie Cordero on Jan. 23, 1961, in Herford, Texas. She survives at their home in Topeka. Other survivors include his stepfather, German Garza Sr., Mission, Texas; six sons, Paulino Jr., in Iowa, Richard, Hutchinson, Ruben and Jesse, both of Topeka, and Johnny, in Texas; three daughters, Mary Rangel, Diana Ortiz and Annabelle Galicia, all of Topeka; brothers, Joe Aldape, Ruben Aldape and Seferino Garza, all of Mission, Texas, and German Garza and and Jimmy Garza, both in Texas; two sisters, Ma. Guadalupe Aldape, in Utah, and Susana Garza, Mission, Texas; 19 Grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Ruben. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Assumption Catholic Church. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Aldape will lie in state from 1 to 9 p.m. today at Davidson Funeral Home, where a rosary recited at 6 p.m., followed by visitation. Contributions may be made to may be made to the Paulino Aldape Memorial Fund, sent in care of the funeral home, 1035 N. Kansas Ave., 66608.
