John was a son of Jeremiah & Ellen Fitzgerald Collins.
He married on 3 July 1917 at the St. Callistus Roman Catholic Church in Kane, McKean County ,Pennsylvania; to Mary Helena Hyde, a native of Kane;by the Rev. D.S. Sheenan. They honeymooned on a trip to Washington D.C and New York City. Following their trip,they returned to San Francisco,where John had been living & working prior to their marriage, to make their home.
John J. Collins is buried in an unmarked grave.
