Marjorie Helen Harlan Boston, 90, of Amarillo died Thursday, Sept. 23, 2004.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Sunday in Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon with David Fristoe of Amarillo officiating. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Central Church of Christ Chapel in Amarillo with Bob Crass and Dick Marcear of Amarillo officiating. Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Boston was born Nov. 16, 1913, in Clarendon. She was raised in Clarendon and attended Clarendon schools. She graduated from Clarendon High School and later from Clarendon Junior College. She later graduated from West Texas State College with a degree in primary education. She taught at Bairfied, Midway and Kerrville schools until 1944. She then owned and operated Harlan's Flowers in Clarendon until 1967, when she married U.J. Boston and moved to Amarillo. She was a homemaker until his death in 1974. An apartment complex at 1201 W. 11th Ave. in Amarillo became her home and business until she sold it and retired in 1997. She was a member of Central Church of Christ in Amarillo.
Marjorie Boston loved Jesus and loved people. She served as volunteer groundskeeper for Central Church of Christ for many years. Marjorie was also an avid bridge player and loved playing any kind of card game with her family and friends.
People like Marjorie come along so seldom and are often overlooked, but to those who saw her genuine, caring and loving spirit, God truly blessed. The family's loss is heaven's gain, until we meet again.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her mother, Ormie Harlan; her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J.M. Potter with whom she and her mother lived; and two brothers, Donald Harlan and John F. Harlan.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Mary Harlan of Clarendon; the Boston grandchildren; heart-adopted children, Scott and Kathy Brittain of Amarillo; five heart-adopted grandchildren; four heart-adopted great-grandchildren; a cousin, Ethlyn Grady and her children, John and Sharon, all of Clarendon; and a niece, LaTrece Gorham of Bellingham, Wash.
Honorary pallbearers include Scott Brittain, Chuck Brittain, Jared Brittain, Chance Beasley, Travis Beasley and Jeremy Beasley.
