Mrs. Magdalene Kennel Lehman, 68, widow of John Lehman, died at 5:30 a. m. on Monday at her home in Main Street, following a paralytic stroke suffered on Sunday, June 16th. She failed to recover consciousness. She was a daughter of the late Chris A. Kennel and Magdalene Albright Kennel and was born in Wellesley, Ontario, Canada, August 2, 1871.

Fifty years ago she married John Lehman in Wellesley, Canada. In 1906 they came to Lewis County and albout that time purchased the home and saw mill business from the late Joseph F. Farney, which business he managed until his death in July, 1925. He took his son-in-law, B. F. Zehr, as co-partner and formed the Lehman-Zehr Lumber Co., of which Mr. Zehr is still manager.

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Benjamin F. (Susanna) Zehr, an only child; three grandchildren: the Misses Kathleen L., Charlotte L. and Mark Zehr, all of Croghan. Also two sisters, Mrs. Susan Yousey, who for the past five years has resided here with her sister, and Mrs. Barbara Bast, and one brother, Joseph Kennel, both of Wellesley, Canada, besides numerous nieces and nephews in Canada, middle western states and several in Croghan.

The funeral was held today (Thursday) at 12 o'clock noon at the home and at 1:00 p. m. at the Amish Mennonite Church, of which she was a lifelong member. Burial was made in the church cemetery.
