Katherine M. Smith, 86 passed away June 19, 2001 in Draper, Utah. She was born in Spring Glen, Carbon County, Utah on November 22, 1914 to Andrew J. And Etta Mae Bellows Buckley. She was raised and educated in Carbon County. She married John STOWELL, who preceded her in death. She married Alfred E. Smith who also preceded her in death. Katherine retired from LDS Hospital after many years of service. She was a very kind and generous person. Although small in stature, she had a heart as big as the world. She always extended a helping hand to the less fortunate. For many years her home was a place for family, friends and even strangers were provided with a home cooked meal and a place to stay.

Survived by three sons and two daughters: Glen (Shannon) Stowell of Provo, UT, Art (Helen) Stowell of West Valley City, UT, George Smith of Salt Lake, Donna Stowell of Dewey, AR, Ellen (Cleggett) Riddings of Clearfield, UT; sisters, Bella Buckley, Hazel Kidd; 13 grandchildren, and 27 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by one son, Eugene Smith and six sisters and three brothers.

A graveside service will be held Monday 10 a.m. June 25, 2001 at Salt Lake City Cemetery 4th Ave and N Street. A viewing will be held Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at the Neil O'Donnell & Sons Mortuary 372 East 100 South. Friends may also call Monday from 8:30-9:30 a.m. prior to the graveside, also at the mortuary.
