Obituary :ROBERT FERGUSON (published on November 04, 2001) ROBERT ALLAN FERGUSON Sadly we announce the passing of our father Robert Allan Ferguson on November 1, 2001. Bob goes to join his wife Lola Mable who passed away on November 1, 1991. Dad will be sadly missed by his sons James Andrew and wife Patti of Chilliwack BC, Wayne Allan and wife Heather; granddaughter Jillian of Winnipeg; and Gregory Arthur of Winnipeg; as well as many nieces and nephews in Manitoba, Alberta, and British Columbia. He was predeceased by his parents Mary Leila (Aitken) and Peter Arthur; sisters and brothers-in-law, Donelda Catherine and Cecil Powles and Irma and George McLean. Bob was born April 23, 1914 in Winnipeg where he attended school at Aberdeen, Ralph Brown, and St. John High School. Following service in the Canadian Army where he reached the rank of Sargent during the Second World War he returned to his job as an accountant with the T. Eaton Co. from which he retired in 1979. He was very active in his younger years in the Manitoba Curling Association and in his middle years the Manitoba Lawn Bowling Association and represented Manitoba in the Canada Games for lawn bowling. Bob spent the last few years playing cards at the Seniors' Centre at the First English Luther Church on Maryland Street. Bob was a long time member of the Shaughnessy United Church on Magnus and Railway. Bob was a devoted Mason of over 50 years, a lifetime member and Past Master of Ancient Landmark Lodge # 3, he also served as secretary from 1964 to 1995. He was also a lifetime member of the Scottish Rite, and a Past President of the Shriner's Khartum Temple Chanters, and Past Patron of the Queen Winnipeg Chapter # 1 Order of the Eastern Star. THE BROKEN CHAIN: We little knew that morning; God was going to call your name In life we loved you dearly, In death we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you, You did not go alone, For part of us went with you, The day God called you home. You left us beautiful memories, Your love is still our guide, And though we cannot see you, You're always at our side. Our family chain is broken, And nothing seems the same, But as God calls us one by one The chain will link again. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be conducted by Pastor T. E. Chell, a friend, on Monday November 5 at 11:00 a.m. in Thomson Funeral Chapels 669 Broadway. Many thanks to the nurses and staff on the 4th. floor Unit 9 at the Seven Oaks Hospital for all their genuine gentle care of our father. In lieu of flowers Friends are welcome to make donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation
