Donald L. Shatters, age 86, of Amherst, WI passed away on Monday, May 28, 2012 at his residence.
Don was born in Hampshire, Illinois on October 16, 1925, the son of the late George and Ida Mae (Landwehr) Shatters.
On July 7, 1951, Don married Phyllis Olsen in Wittenberg.
He farmed for many years in Hampshire Il, moving to Wisconsin in 1964. He was also a Field Supervisor for the American Potato Co.
He is a member of Nelsonville Lutheran Church & the Church Council, Morning Glory Farms Co-op, Sons of Norway and Wheel & Deal Square Dance Club.
Don loved bowling, horseshoes, pool, fishing, square dancing with his wife and especially working in his shop.
He is survived by his wife: Phyllis A. Shatters, Amherst; his children: Peggy (Tom) Parker, Stevens Point; David Shatters, Rosholt and Jane (Brad) Stratton, Franklin, WI; his grandchildren: Ken (Kari) Parker; Becky (Mark) Stultz; John (Jaimi) Parker; Justin Shatters; Shaina (Casey Smith) Shatters; Jim Shatters; Joshua Stratton and Jack Stratton; his great grandchildren: Donald & Lizzy Parker; Brayden & Allison Stultz; Kesha, Leah & Natasha Shatters and Vincent Smith; his brother: Robert (Jeanette) Shatters, Davis Jct., IL and a special nephew: Edward (Buzz) Getzelman, Hampshire, IL.
Don was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Blanche Shatters Getzelman.
The Funeral Service will be on Saturday, June 2 at 11 AM at Nelsonville Lutheran Church with Reverend Dwight Anderson, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Nelsonville Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Friday evening from 4 to 8 PM at the Nelsonville Lutheran Church and again on Saturday morning from 10 AM until the time of services.
