George Terry Houchins, Jr., 66, passed away on Friday, August 10, 2012, at his home in DeSoto. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, August 15, 2012, at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home Chapel with Darren Heil officiating. Burial will follow at Rosehill Cemetery in Blooming Grove. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, August 14, 2012, at the funeral home.

George Terry Houchins, Jr. was born in Dallas, Texas, to the late George T. Houchins Sr. and Melba Andrews Lewis. He was a proud Texan, and a direct descendent of early settlers of pre-1836 Texas. Terry had many interests in life, including family history and genealogy, computers, photography, astronomy and astrophotography, guitars, music and his beloved '57 Chevy.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Grant Smith.

Terry is survived by his wife of 36 years, Bobbie Lusk Houchins; son, Terry Glenn Houchins; grandchildren, Joseph and Ashley; brothers, Kelly R. Houchins and wife, Josephina, and Norman Meche and wife, Diane; sisters, Sheryl Hawn and husband, Kelly, and Kimberly Lewis; sister-in-laws, Betty Russell and husband, Don; Bryne Young and mother-in-law, Mavis Luck; several loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and many wonderful and dearly loved and appreciated nieces and nephews.
