LEWISTOWN - James W. "Jug" McCrory, 83, of East Fourth Street, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2011. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was born Dec. 15, 1927, on Juniata Terrace, the son of the late John and Alice M. Bowers McCrory. Jug is survived by his wife Dolores J. (Sanchez) McCrory, whom he married Jan. 22, 1959. Also surviving are: children, Mark McCrory and wife, Jimma Crow-McCrory, of Tulsa, Okla., Alan E. Coudriet, of Belleville, and Mercedes L. Coudriet of Lewistown; brothers and sisters, Dennis McCrory, of Juniata Terrace, Samuel McCrory and wife, Barbara, of Mechanicsburg, Marley Shingler and husband, Robert, of Ind.; grandchildren, Stacy Parks Miller, Tasha and Britney Parks, Shawn Alan and Rosetta Coudriet and Derek Sanchez McCrory; great-grandchildren, Marissa and Cheyenne Coudriet, Ryan Romig, Emery Reese Parks and Larry Moore, of Lewistown; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Landz, and brothers, Donald, John, and Bill McCrory. James graduated in 1945 from Lewistown High School, then graduated from Shippensburg College in 1959 with a degree in Elementary Education. Jug was a Special Education Teacher in Mifflin County School District from 1959 to 1986. After retiring, he taught in San Antonio, Texas, and Tulsa, Okla. He served two terms in the United States Navy, was a member of Saint Mark's Episcopal Church, Lewistown Country Club and Mifflin County Retired Teachers. Jug was a dedicated teacher and avid golfer, and never turned his back on a person in need. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011, at the Barr Funeral Home, Inc., 120 Logan Street, with the Rev. Karen McCachren officiating. Interment will be in St Mark's Cemetery with Military Services by VFW Post 7011. A viewing will be Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
