Roy Bullemer, 94, of Gibbon, died Saturday, August 4, 2012 at the Fairfax Community Home in Fairfax.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, August 11 at Augustana Lutheran Church in Gibbon with Pastor Sarah Taylor officiating. Burial will be in the Augustana Lutheran Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the Winthrop Honor Guard.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Saturday.
Roy is survived by his daughters, son, sons-in-law and daughter-in-law, Kitty and Gary Reiners of Cambridge, Susan and Gary Eddy of White Bear Lake, Gary and Susan Bullemer of New London; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Millie in 2006; and by his brothers and sisters.
Roy Edward Bullemer was born June 18, 1918 in Gibbon to August and Emma (Fetzner) Bullemer. He attended Gibbon High School and graduated with the class of 1936. He then spent one year studying business at the University of Minnesota. After college, Roy joined the U.S. Army and served in World War II. On February 27, 1949 Roy was united in marriage with Mildred Isenberg in Bernadotte. Roy went back to school at Dunwoody to learn meat cutting and then worked as a grocer at the family business in Gibbon. He also owned and operated the Gibbon Locker Plant before working at Arlington Ready Mix until his retirement. Roy loved anything connected with Gibbon and even served as the mayor. He was a member of the American Legion Post 226 in Gibbon, serving as Commander in 1965, Augustana Lutheran Church, the Augustana Lutheran Church Council, the Gibbon Sportsmen Club, and was a longtime volunteer firefighter. Roy was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed bowling, visiting with friends and family, and making small talk, especially about Gibbon.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
