Mrs. Virginia Penn Johnson, 93, of Greenwood, widow of Nevit Yates Johnson, died July 3, 2012 at NHC of Greenwood.

Born in Greenwood County, December 15, 1918, she was a daughter of the late J. Chris and Mary Coleman Penn. She was a graduate of Greenwood High School and was a member and loyal supporter of the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection where she served on the Alter Guild.

Surviving are two daughters, Virginia (Ginny) Wilson and husband William Wilson and Mary Helen Dixon, all of Greenwood; two sons, Yates Johnson and wife Sandra Johnson of Greenwood and Mike Johnson and wife Libby of Hilton Head Island; grandchildren, Bert Ellerbe, Russell Ellerbe, Taylor Wilson Tucker, Elizabeth Wilson Stamper, Bill Wilson, Clint Wilson, Sloan Dixon, Grayson Dixon Valentine, Jasmine McKee, Raven Sivell, Amanda Sivell, Christie Johnson Hansen, Hunter Johnson Burrier and Rylie Johnson and fourteen great-grandchildren. Mrs. Johnson was predeceased by a daughter, Sallie Sivell and four sisters, Angelle Penn Adams, Gertrude Penn Brabham, Christine Penn Henderson and Rebecca Penn Wilburn.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, July 7, 2012, at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection with The Reverend Nicholas Beasley officiating. Burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons.
