NEW BLOOMFIELD - Marvin E. "Jack" Alexander, 90, formerly of Middle Road, Lewistown, died at 12:36 p.m. Sunday, July 6, 2014, at Manor Perry Village, New Bloomfield.

Born on Aug. 5, 1923, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Samuel T. and Fannie (Stoner) Alexander.

In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by a sister, Violet Hackett.

Jack is survived by: his wife, Margaret E. "Peg" (Kyler) Dukes-Alexander, whom he married on Dec. 7, 1950; a daughter, Margaret Morret and husband, John, of Millerstown; grandchildren, Adam Earnest and wife, Dawn, of Duncannon, and Sharon Russell and husband, Steven, of Port Royal; three great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He graduated Lewistown High School in 1942. Jack served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific Theatre. He was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Lewistown, Lewistown Masonic Lodge No. 203, Knights Templar No. 26, Lewistown VFW, Lewistown Elks Lodge No. 663, Lewistown Royal Arch No. 186, UCT and Lewistown Moose Lodge No. 143.

Jack enjoyed fishing, camping and, earlier in life, he loved to fly.

A funeral service including a Masonic service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 10, 2014, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes Inc., Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with Father David Zwifka officiating. A viewing will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home. Interment with VFW Post No. 7011 honors will take place in St. Mark's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Jack's name may be made to the American Cancer Society, 123 S. Sparks St., State College, PA 16801.
