Maud Elmira Winter was born in Bethel, Fulton County, Pennsylvania. She was the first born child of David Winter and his first wife Matilda Mann Winter. She was a full sister to Joseph Levi Winter and David S. Winter (who died in his infancy) as well as several half brothers and sisters. Maud moved to Christian County, Illinois and married Wilbur D. Adams on April 10, 1889. Wilbur and Maud lived for many years on West Main Street in Moweaqua, Illinois. She is buried in Old Stonington Cemetery near her brother Joseph Winter and sister-in-law Ida Winter.
