Irene Russell, the daughter of John and Verna (Sherbeck) Hyatt, was born near Ansley, Nebraska, on December 9, 1907, and passed away at Grand Island, Nebraska, on September 5, 1983, at the age of 75 years, 8 months and 26 days.

She grew up at Ansley and attended the Deem Country School and graduated from Ansley High School in 1926.

On March 7, 1927, she was united in marriage to Gerald Russell at Smith Center, Kansas. They lived near Ansley until March of 1944, when they moved to Aurora, where they have since resided.

Irene was a member of the United Methodist Church and was active in church circles. She was also a member of the Royal Neighbors and Rebbecca Lodges.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother Floyd.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are her husband Gerald; 3 sons, Richard of Aurora, Larry of Cheyenne, Wyoming and Keith of Lovell, Wyoming; 3 daughters, Naomi Hammond of Aurora, Lois Janzen of Hampton and Doris Senff of Republican City, Nebraska; two sisters, Leona Porter of Omaha and Mary Moody of Comstock; 20 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and close friends.
