He enlisted in the Civil war, Company D, 143rd Regiment Illinois infantry, volunteers, on the 6th day of May, 1864, to serve 100 days under Capt. Jacob Hayes, Received an honorable discharge at Mattoon, Ill., by reason of expiration of term of service. He re-enlisted February 15, 1865, to serve one year or during the war.
The deceased was married April 3, 1869, to Indiana L. Shoemaker, daughter of Jesse C. and Mary A. Shoemaker. Two children were born to this union, Lola A. and Jesse B. Lola passed from earth April 18, 1875. His wife passed away June 17, 1879. Was married again on Aug, 22, 1882, to Sallie Moore, daughter Of W.H. and Susan Moore. One son, Harry Morton Flint, was born to this union. He passed from earth Aug. 30, 1890, age 20 months. His wife and son, Jesse B. Flint, of Fargo, N.D., who with his wife and sons, Harold and Glenn, survive.
Nephews of Mr. Flint are Joseph of Casey; Albert, Woodburn, Ore.; William and Lincoln, of Casey. Nieces are Mrs. Wellington Arterburn, Kansas, Ill.; Mrs. Clarinda Barr, Peoria, Ill.; Mrs. Elizabeth Yelton, of Hazel Dell; Mrs. Nancy Quinn, of Indianapolis.
The funeral services were held at home Friday morning at 11 oclock conducted by Rev. A.A. Heinlein. Interment in Casey mausoleum. A firing squad from Victor Hill post of the American Legion rendered last miltary honors and Scout Harland Pfister sounded taps.
William Flint, aged 82 years and five months, died Tuesday morning, Nov 11, at 6.m. following a lingering illness from a complication of diseases. He has lived at his present home in Johnson township, about four miles southwest of town, for fifty-one years, and was also born in Clark county.
The funeral services are to be held this Friday morning at 11 o'clock at the home, Rev. A.A. Heinlein officiating, and interment in the mausoleum at Casey cemetery.
Deceased is survived by his wife and one son, Jesse, of Montana.
