Mr. Gibson was born Feb. 23, 1922 at St. Anthony, Idaho the son of William Alvin Gibson and Roberta Green Gibson. He grew up in the St. Anthony area where he attended his schooling graduating from high School in l940. He also attended two years of college at Meridian, Idaho. His parents died while he was young and he was raised up in the Earl Garrett Family.
During World War II he was inducted into the Army in Oct. of l942. While in the Army he served as a Military Policeman. After the war was over he was honorably discharged in Nov. 1945.
He married Verda LaFever on Dec. 5, 1948 in Rupert, Idaho. They were later divorced in l956. He married Irene Powell in l965 in Las Vegas, NV. Irene passed away in l974.
Russell worked as a painter most of his life and for over 25 years worked at E G & G at the Nevada Test Site retiring in l986. For the last several years he has lived the winters in Logandale, NV. and the summers in the St. Anthony area.
He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and was a avid coin collector. He was one of the original members of the St. Anthony V.F.W. and attended one of their last meetings. He was also a member of the Logandale American Legion..
Besides his parents and wife Irene he was precede in death by two brothers Gilbert and Corneilius "Gib" Gibson.
He is survived by a daughter Shauna (Dale) Pollock, Washington, Utah and a son Steven Russell Gibson, Logandale, NV. a sister in Law - Elva Gibson, Teton, ID.; and Special brother and sisters - Theron Garrett, Verona Powell and Mauna Shedoan. 5 Grandchildren and 18 Great Grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted, Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012 at 3:00 P.M. in the Bidwell Funeral Home. Friends may call at the Funeral Home Saturday one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the St. Anthony Riverview Cemetery where military rites will be performed by the St. Anthony V.F.W. and American Legion.
