Eugene W. Paine Dies Following Long Illness
         Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon at the Hoenig funeral chapel for Eugene W. Paine, former owner of the Brainerd Ice Company, who died the previous Thursday at this home, 602 North Ninth street, following a long illness. The services were conducted by Rev. J.R. Michaelson and interment was in Evergreen cemetery.
         Mr. Paine was a lifelong resident of the city, born here on Nov. 15, 1889. During his residence here he was prominent in business, civic and fraternal activities. He was a member of the Elks and Masonic lodges and was for years prominent in the Brainerd city band.
         Surviving are his widow, Mrs Ruth Paine, and four children, Ensign Allen Paine, U.S. Navy, headquarters at Seattle, Wash.; Eugene H. Paine, Brainerd; John W. Paine, seaman, U.S. Navy, Mrs C.H.Paine, Brainerd, and two sisters, Miss Bessie Paine, Brainerd, and Mrs. Clara Clark, Seattle, Wash.
