Nancy Jane McClenahan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. C. Norton, was born on Dutch creek, April 26, 1848 and died at the home of her son-in-law George H. Yahnke on Friday June 20th, 1919 at the age of 71 years, 1 month and 25 days. She moved with her folks to Talleyrand, Iowa, and January 30th, 1867 was united in marriage to J. E. McClenahan and to this marriage were born ten children, Mrs. Mina Sanders of Lake Preston, South Dakota, George McClenahan near Sigourney, Iowa, Mrs. Linnie Milburn near Keswick, Iowa, Mrs. Sarah Geno near Sigourney, and Mervin McClenahan of Sigourney. Her daughter Mrs. Minnie Yahnke preceeded her in death five years ago. The following children died in infancy; Guy Birdee, Frank and Walter.
Her husband James McClenahan preceeded her in death April 30th, 1919.
About 35 years ago she professed faith in Christ and united with the Christain Church at Keenersburg and has since lived a consistent Christian life.
Mrs. McClenahan was an industrious woman of a genial disposition and her chief pleasure in life was looking after the welfare of others.
Her last illness was of short duration and all that medical skill andloving care by her relatives could do was of no avail, and she passed away sweetly to that great beyond, resigned to God with that one great passage of scripture in mind, Not my will but thine be done. She now sleeps to await that one great day, " The Resurrecton."
She will be greatly missed by her dear ones and a large circle of friends.
She leaves to mourn her departure three daughters, two sons, one sister, Mrs. Sarah Russell, two brothers, Mr. D.D. Norton and George Norton. She also leaves fifteen grandchildren and one great grandchild.
The family desires to thank the friends and neighbors for the kindness and sympathy shown during their sad bereavement.
