Jemima Jane Alcorn Head was born in January 1882 to Mary Frances Hellard and John R Alcorn. She grew up in Rockcastle County, Kentucky, where her father was a farmer, and she attended school until the fifth grade. She married Neal Head, another farmer, in 1901 at age 19. They had seven children together, not including two children stillborn in 1923. Neal died in 1943, and Jemima married Jesse Conrad, at age 60. Jemima died in 1949 in Wayne County, Indiana, at age 67.
