Catherine Cora Wheatley, 90, of Raywick died at 11:30 a.m. March 24 [1983] at Nazareth Home in Louisville. Mrs. Wheatley was preceded in death by her husband, William Zachary Wheatley, and her parents John & Lena Thomas Gootee. Survivors include three sons, Ben of Bardstown, W.Z. and Nolan of Louisville; four daughters, Sister Catherine Rose of St. Augustine, FL, Mrs. Mary Jo Grigsby of Lexington, Mrs. Geneva Childress of Cub Rub, and Mrs. Mary Jane Thomas of Louisville; 46 grandchildren and 50 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. March 28 at St. Francis Xavier Church in Raywick with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Thomas Caldwell officiated. Pallbearers were David, Mike, Hal, Larry, Tommy & Jeff Wheatley, all grandsons of the deceased. Prayer services were held at 3 p.m. March 27 at the funeral home. Mattingly Funeral Home, Loretto was in charge of arrangements.
