Virgil was reared in Long Lane and attended elementary school in Long Lane, and high school in Buffalo, MO. He loved growing up on the farm, and was known as a "Jack of all trades." He started working at a stave mill in Lebanon, MO the day after his 18th birthday, and worked there 31 years, including 15 years as a supervisor. He was united in marriage to Margo (Wisdom) on October 2, 1970 in Buffalo, MO and to this union two children were born, both of whom survive him. Virgil was baptised and practised and believed the apostolic faith. He also enjoyed spending time hunting and fishing.
Virgil was preceded in death by his father, Bob; one brother, William "Bill" Evans; two sisters, Julia Ann Creech and Shirley Laughlin. He is survived by his wife Margo Evans of the home; two sons, Virgil Wayne Evans, Jr. and wife Tammy of Kansas City, MO and Jeremy Evans of Long Lane, MO; his mother, Lorea Evans of Long Lane, MO; two sisters Sue and husband Darrell Alford of Long Lane, MO and Janie and husband Mervin Garrison of Long Lane, MO; one brother, J.R. Evans of Long Lane, MO; three grandchildren, Logan, Waylon, and Carson Evans all of Kansas City, MO. He also leaves a host of other family members who will truly miss him.
