EDWARD COLE
Edward was the husband of Zerilda Mannon, daughter of Sally Scott (Wharton) and Aaron Mannon. They were married on April 6, 1848, the same day as Zerilda's brother James married Rebecca Shirkey.

Edward purchased an 80 acre farm just outside of New Boston, Mercer County, IL. While living their the couple had their only child. A son, Levi Edward Cole, born Jan 20, 1850.

There is an old superstition about double weddings, and it came to pass in this instance, for Edward Cole died of lung fever on April 23, 1853, at the age of 29 years, 1 month and 23 days old and James lost his wife just two and a half years later.

Edward was buried in the Eliza Creek Cemetery. Zerilda remarried to Richard Cramer, but Richard and Levi could not get along so he was "adopted" and raised by Zerilda's brother James.

Zerilda died in 1900 and is buried in Davenport, Iowa.
