Ilene was born on July 15, 1926 in Norwalk, Ohio to the late William Oram and Myrtle Evelyn (Brown) Wright.
When she was younger, Ilene helped with the operation of Wright's Dairy with her parents and brothers. She was employed with Home Savings and Loan in Norwalk, and retired after many years of dedicated service. She was a member of the Northeast Ohio Coalition for National Health Care, the NAACP, FLOC, National Organization of Women, Firelands Progressive Coalition, and Voices for Peace and Justice. She was a Norwalk City Councilwoman in the First Ward and served for three terms in that position.
Ilene enjoyed political activism, and serving for the Democratic Party. She played an important role in bringing the Norwalk Workers Monument to her home town. She enjoyed all kinds of animals, and even operated her own pet care service with her cousin Bernard Burnell Brown (Find A Grave Memorial# 43183177).
Including her parents, Ilene was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Graham, her husband, Barnes Compton Graham and brothers Vernon Wilbur Wright (Find A Grave Memorial# 43227198). Paul Erlyn Wright, George Wesley Wright and Ralph Edward Wright.
She was divorced from Kenneth Delbert Harr and Guadalupe Victor Gallegos, both deceased.
In addition to her brother, she was survived by a son, several grandchildren, many great grandchildren and two great great granddaughters.
Friends called on Tuesday, August 7 from 12:30 pm until the time of services at 1:30 pm at Groff Funeral Homes, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, Ohio. Reverend Robert Herkner presided.
