"From a Delaware and Hudson BULLETIN dated December 1, 1926 we gather an account of employee service. 'Among our pensioned employees there is one whose father was engaged in the construction of the Delaware and Hudson canal between Honesdale, Pa. and Rondout, N.Y., opened in 1828, thereby making the beginning of the Company's active career as a common carrier.' This father mentioned was FREDERICK MILLER, a quarry man, born in Germany, who worked for the company in several capacities. His son FRED Jr., born in Rondout, 1853 first worked as a farm chore boy." [The Committee on Research, Town of Worcester, Otsego County, New York : History (Worcester, New York: unknown, 1954); History of East Worcester by W. Fern Ferguson, pp. 123-124]

"Frederick Miller, a respected citizen, died at his home at East Worcester, January 26th, aged eighty-one years. Mr. Miller had resided in that village about fifty years. He was employed by the Delaware and Hudson company as section foreman until his health failed, when he retired from active service. He leaves four sons, four daughters and many other friends to mourn his demise.---Our East Worcester Reporter." [The Otsego Farmer & Republican (Cooperstown, NY), Feb. 3, 1911, p. 7]
