Death of an Old Astleyite
The death took place Feb 8th, 1895 at Cedar, township, America of Margaret Grundy, age 81 yrs. Grandma Grundy as she was familiarly termed by her many friends she had made during her long residence there, had been ailing for some time, and the end was not unexpected. In 1869 she went out to America with her husband Joseph Grundy, who died in 1887. The family went directly to Denison, and from thence to Cherokee County, where they locate two miles north-east of Larrabee, which has been her home for so many years. She was mother to 12 children, nine of whom survive her - five sons and one daughter in America and three sons in England, including Simeon Grundy, the well known porter at Tyldesley station.
