She moved at the age of nine with her parents to St. Clair County, Michigan where she lived until 1899. She was married to Thomas Gilbert on January 25, 1899 at Larrabee. She lived in the Larrabee vicinity for 55 years until illness caused her to enter a nursing home in Cherokee.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1936 and a daughter, Cornelia, in 1930.
Mrs. Gilbert was a member of the Methodist Church in Larrabee and was for many years a willing worker.
Surviving her are two daughters, Addie Gilbert of Port Huron, Michigan, and Mrs. Raymond Gregg, Cherokee; two sons, Owen Gilbert, Larrabee, and Dr. Elmer F. Gilbert of Rock Rapids. She is also survived by ten grandchildren.
Funeral services under direction of Boothby Funeral Home were held in Larrabee Methodist Church at 2 pm on August 22, 1955.
The Rev. Warren A. Bintz, pastor of the Sutherland and Larrabee Methodist Churches, officiated. Burial was in Cedar Cemetary.
