"The reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated."
-Mark Twain

Until an obituary needs to be written, I retain control of my own memorial page and offer the following thoughts:
Life Goes On
I cried as a child when I lost a pet;
Memories of them are with me yet.
T'was yesterday, and now they're gone;
The pages turn, and life goes on.
I cried when I had a broken heart;
As a teen, my world seemed torn apart.
I thought it was love, but then it was gone;
The pages turn, and life goes on.
We stood so proud in cap and gown;
Ready to turn the world around;
We carried our signs, we sang our songs;
The pages turn, and life goes on.
Some were sent to foreign lands;
We lost some friends in Vietnam.
Names in granite; the list is long;
The pages turn, and life goes on.
I've known the pain of a loved ones' death;
The emptiness remains in my heart yet.
The sense of loss is never gone;
The pages turn, and life goes on.
And now I reflect upon my life,
I've loved my family, I've loved my wife;
I've done some right, I've done some wrong;
The pages turn, and life goes on.
When the time shall come for my final rest,
I hope I will have passed the test.
For I've loved this life, right or wrong,
The pages turn, and life goes on.
I'm thankful for the chance to live;
The chance to love, the chance to give;
I'd place these words upon my stone:
" The pages turn, and life goes on."
