Having suffered witha chronic kidney condition since he was a child, he was at first rejected for service. In March, 1945 however after re-examination, he was accepted and served eight months, four of which were spent in a hospital. He was a member of the Catholic Church and was graduated from St. Charles High School. He was unmarried.

Survivors include his parents with whom he resided, one sister, Mrs. Harold Craig, pf Finley; a half-brother, Nolan Baird, and his maternal grandmother.

The remains were brought to Bosley Funeral Home here and about 10 o'clock were removed to the home of his parents at Raywick.
