Howard L. Hansel - Fairmont Sentinel - (Sep/13/2008)

CEYLON - Funeral services for Howard L. Hansel, 68, of Ceylon , Minn., will be Monday, September 15, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Ceylon with Rev. Russell Reimers officiating. Burial will follow in Lake Belt Township Cemetery near Ceylon. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday, September 14, at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Howard passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2008, at the Fairmont Medical Center in Fairmont.

Howard Lee Hansel was born on January 31, 1940, in Dolliver, Iowa, the son of Elmer and Ola (Huntley) Hansel. He attended area schools and graduated from Graettinger High School in 1958. On June 1, 1963, Howard was united in marriage to Mary Ann Petersen at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Ceylon. Together the couple raised their family in Ceylon and Howard was employed at Art's Way Manufacturing in Armstrong. After 25 years at Art's Way Manufacturing, Howard retired in 1992. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Ceylon, the Ceylon Fire Department, enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family and friends.

Left to honor and cherish Howard's memory is his wife, Mary Ann Hansel of Ceylon; two children, Jason Hansel and his wife, Tami, of Ceylon, Julie Hansel of Inver Grove Heights, Minn.; grandchildren, Tyler of Fairmont, and Brandon, Dustin and Toni of Ceylon, and Bobby of St. Peter; brother, Leonard Howell and his wife, Carol, of Fairmont; sisters-in-law, Helen Goerndt of Guckeen, Ruth Nimerfroh of Ceylon, and Alice Petersen of Belgrade, Minn.; brothers-in-law, Walter Petersen and his wife, Karon, of Fort Calhoun, Neb., Kenneth Petersen of Belgrade, Minn., LeRoy Peterson of Minneapolis and EuGene Petersen and his wife, Bernice, of Estherville; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Elmer and Ola, Howard was also preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, Martin, Roland, Floyd, Henry and Marlin Petersen, Gordon Goerndt and Ed Nimerfroh; sisters-in-law, Audrey and Ione Petersen.
